Region
Bairrada is a wine region in central Portugal, located between the Atlantic coast and the limestone hills south of Aveiro, known for its cool, maritime influence and clay limestone soils. The region is defined by two appellations: Bairrada DOC, which emphasises traditional styles and is best known for structured red wines based on Baga as well as high quality sparkling wine, and Beira Atlântico VR, which allows greater flexibility in grape varieties and styles, often used by producers seeking a broader expressive range.
