Appellation
Los Olivos District is a small nested AVA within the larger Santa Ynez Valley AVA. It is located on an alluvial plain alongside the Santa Ynez river.

The Los Olivos AVA pursued its own AVA based on some subtle terroir differences that distinguish itself from other parts of the Santa Ynez Valley. Firstly, it is warmer here than further west. Morning fogs burn off quicker, and the vines experience hotter conditions than in Sta. Rita Hills. The soil in Los Olivos is alluvial with a lot of gravel.
