Morey-Saint-Denis is one of the smallest appellations in Burgundy. The appellation’s 20 Premier Cru vineyards are mostly on the lower slopes, below the village’s five Grand Cru sites (Clos de Tart, Bonnes Mares, Clos de la Roche, Clos Saint-Denis, Clos des Lambrays). There are a few above this line and face the neighbouring village of Gevrey-Chambertin. Other than Monts Luisants, the Premier Crus are excuslively dedicated to Pinot Noir.
