Carpegna is a little-known MGA located in the commune of Diano d’Alba, just outside the traditional heart of the Barolo production zone. It sits on gently rolling hills with marl and clay-limestone soils, and its cooler exposures tend to produce lighter, less concentrated wines. Rarely used for single-vineyard bottlings, Carpegna is occasionally blended to bring softness and subtle aromatics, but it remains on the margins of Barolo’s most celebrated terroirs.
