Zotzenberg is a southeast-facing Grand Cru vineyard located above the village of Mittelbergheim, with marl-limestone soils that retain moisture and provide a cool, balanced ripening environment. Uniquely among Alsace’s Grand Crus, Sylvaner is permitted here alongside Riesling, Gewurztraminer, and Pinot Gris, producing structured, ageworthy wines that highlight the grape’s often-overlooked depth and finesse. Zotzenberg wines are typically firm and mineral, with lifted aromatics, vibrant acidity, and a quiet intensity that rewards cellaring.
